Why Does My New Mattress Feel Firmer?

Understanding the Break-In Process for a More Comfortable Sleep

It's completely normal for your new mattress to feel firmer than the in-store model. The mattress you experienced in our showroom is typically a floor model that has been on display—and used— for weeks or even months. With repeated use, these models become "broken in" and softer over time, much like a new pair of shoes that feels stiff at first but gradually becomes more comfortable as you wear it.

In contrast, your brand-new mattress hasn't been broken in yet, so it may initially feel firmer. We recommend giving it a few nights, or even a week or two, to allow the materials to relax and conform to your body, ultimately providing the comfort you remember from the showroom.
