Which is better for a cheap mattress: foam or springs?

Foam-only cheap mattresses can offer good motion isolation and a simple, lightweight design, but may compress more quickly if the foam density is low. Basic spring mattresses can feel more bouncy and breathable, but may transfer more motion and can feel uneven if the coils are low quality or minimally padded; both types have tradeoffs at lower price points.
