How is a plush mattress different from a firm mattress?

A plush mattress has more cushioning at the surface and allows more sink-in, especially around the shoulders and hips. A firm mattress feels flatter and more rigid at the surface, keeping you more on top of the bed. Both can offer good support if the underlying support layers are well designed.
