Are breathable crib mattresses safer than regular ones?

Breathable designs can be a nice feature, especially if they help prevent overheating, but they havent been proven to prevent SIDS. A standard, firm mattress used according to safe sleep guidelines is already considered safe. Think of breathability as a comfort and design feature rather than a guarantee of extra safety.
